Bruce Kotchey starting Demo.

The February 2013 demonstrator was Bruce Kotchey (pictured above) as he started his demonstration. This painting was later sold.

Bruce is a fantastic painter and has been winning a number of awards at our monthly shows!

Bruce started doing artwork about 12 years ago when he took a drawing class at the Dunedin Art Center. For four or five years his colored pencil drawings were all he did. Then he decided to “loosen up” a bit. After taken several experimental water media courses, he moved on to collage, clay hand–building, stone carving and then found acrylic paint. That was when everything came together. He had found his element.

Bruce is a native of Pittsburgh and attended Ohio University and then earned a masters degree in Public Relations from Ball State University. He served seven years in the Air Force, worked 20 years for GTE and 12 years as a director with the Pinellas County Arts Council.

He says his greatest joy is making gifts of his work to friends and relatives. He says letting them choose and seeing just which pieces they like best is amazing.

Bruce teaches his technique to VA veterans, guild members and friends every Thursday morning 9:30am at City Hall. $3 members, $4 non-members . Bring your paints and canvas and come let Bruce lead you through another exciting painting experience.
